About this ebook

At Castle Harvell, demented Prince Kylock grabs the reins of power by murdering his father.
Harvell's two young refugess are torn apart by the storms of war: headstrong young Melliandra is captured by brutal slavers and Jack, whose wild power works miracles, falls prey to a smuggler's lying charms and a woman's seductive schemes.
Meanwhile, a knight's shattered destiny is about to lead from death-sport pits to the blood-strewn creation of an empire.

A Man Betrayed is, in my mind, where we start to see Jones' talent as a writer shine. As in my review of the first book in the series, I'll point out that I'm reading the Book of Words only after exhausting her later works with the Sword of Shadows. A Man Betrayed still has the lighter, more joyous tone that the previous book has (compared to SoS) but some of the darker elements begin to creep in, and I can start to see the world and talent behind the world show that I fell in love with when reading SoS.
