"Mach dich nicht unglücklich, Bonnie", keuchte der Storekeeper. "Nimm das Ding runter und geh nach Hause."
"Kein Wort!" Das Mädchen kniff ein Auge zu. "Gib mir das Geld! Das aus der Kasse und dem Tresor. Gib's mir oder du bist tot!" Sie bohrte ihm den Colt in den Bauch. Logan spürte den Druck des Metalls. Seine Angst wuchs. "Gut, ich tu', was du sagst, aber ..."
"Quatsch nicht! Das Geld!"
Der Storekeeper trat an die Kasse und ließ die Lade aufspringen. Die Münzen in den Fächern klirrten. Er nahm eine Handvoll und schüttete sie auf den Ladentisch. Dann griff er unter seine Jacke, wo er den Tresorschlüssel trug.
Bonnie glaubte, er wolle eine verborgene Waffe zücken. Sie schoss und Ray Logan hauchte sein Leben aus.
