Beiträge aus Cultural Studies, Ethnologie, Soziolinguistik, Pädagogik und anderen Disziplinen werden mit Essays von Szene-Autoren zusammengeführt. Allen gemeinsam ist das Verständnis von HipHop als Raum kultureller Praxis mit »globalen« Konturen und »lokalen« Aneignungsformen. Das Rahmenthema wird ausdifferenziert in ein Mosaik aus Themen und Theorieperspektiven, u.a. Breakdance und Sozialisation von Migrantenjugendlichen, Sampling und kulturelles Gedächtnis, französischer Rap und politischer Diskurs. Einblicke in die aktuell populärste Jugendkultur im Lichte aktueller popkultureller Diskussion.
