This book is both disappointing and dangerously misleading in it's basic assumptions which misdirect the argument from the outset. It claims to disregard the mystical yet co-opts spirituality into it's explanation. It hoover's quotes from thinkers and scientists from antiquity to the present and hammers them with breathtaking presumption to fit the narrative. It claims that the unquenchable thirst of the conscious mind is knowledge through "experiment", ie through the great god "science". Science is awesome in developing knowledge and physical skills for comfort and well-being but can never give humans what we truly desire and seek, clarity and connection. Not just regarding ourselves, which is the limit of this philosophy, but with regard to Everything. Science uncovers ever more tantalising parts but can never comprehend the whole. Each discovery is like a point of light in a universe of darkness. The latest is quantum physics, the implications of which are still ignored by 99% of humanity. If we moved at light speed we would have a much better instinctive understanding of how time and space function in the universe and the truth uncovered that space and time are relative and vary according to circumstance would not be so mindblowingly destructive to our limited present understanding. The "truth" will always evade science simply because it is a human tool based on observation through 5 limited senses analysed by a limited intellect. The truth lies beyond both knowledge and science. Once a seeker realises this comes the time for yoga.

The concept of an earth without all the disturbing elements and the ramifications of our own behaviour is almost impossible to imagine until you read this transcript and or listen to The Interview. This short book explains exactly what we intuitively know about ourselves and just how excitingly understanding can change our own behaviour and subsequently the future of the human race. Take the time to read if you won’t put it down.
