In den letzten Jahren hat in der Bildungsforschung und in der Politikdidaktik ein Paradigmenwechsel stattgefunden. Stärker als früher sollen Erziehung und Bildung wissensorientiert sein und dabei auf literacy fokussieren. Civic literacy als Fähigkeit zum Umgang mit politischen Symbolsystemen in Alltagskontexten ist nunmehr ein explizit erklärtes Ziel. Hierzu fehlt allerdings noch ein theoretisch begründetes Kompetenzmodell für den Politikunterricht. Der vorliegende Band soll dieses leisten. Ziel ist es, theoriegeleitet ein umfassendes Modell der Politikkompetenz vorzulegen und zur Diskussion zu stellen. Das Modell beansprucht, die fachbezogenen Dimensionen der politischen Lehr-Lern-Prozesse zu beschreiben.
