Mitchell Lauers is a twenty year old man taking on responsibilities for himself and others. Wholesome and unwholesome characters enter his life; he accepts them as they are. At twenty-three Mitchell is drafted into the army. Julia Holton is eighteen years old, wanting a better life; she joins the navy. During a Greyhound Bus ride back to her base, Mitchell befriends her. At the end of the trip, they trade mailing addresses. Mitchell and Julia write as pen-pals; their correspondence becomes extraordinary. However, Julia has learned not to trust strange men; which might even include the good-looking soldier. What will become of their special pen-pal friendship? Will she discontinue corresponding? Or will his letters convince her theyre destined to be together?

About the author

Joan Lewis dedicates Peace in Paradise, to her husband. He is the love of her life and also her Hero. In 1989, 1994 and 1996 Rochester, NY’s Democrat and Chronicle published Joan’s essays. In 1996, Joan was semi-finalist in The International Society of Poets Competition. In 2001, her short story Pass It On was published in Chicken Soup for the Father’s Soul, (Health Communication, Inc.). In 2001, her poem, Christmas Time and short story, The Warmest Christmas, were published in Celebrating the Season, (Essence Publishing). She’s written over five-hundred poems. Poetry books include, Family, Friends and Fun, (Xlibris Corp. 2007), Desire to Aspire, (Xlibris Corp. 2008). Novels include, The Inn at Walnut Valley, (Xlibris Corp. 2009), and this novel, Peace in Paradise, (Xlibris Corp. 2014).
