About the author

John Lack was born on January 7, 1940. He spent his entire life living in the Sacramento, CA area. He has been with his wife for 30 years and has four children, 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He and his wife manage their own extensive real estate portfolio, which includes properties in the USA and abroad. He designed and built their first duplex rental in 1967, almost 50 years ago. He has been involved with rental property ever since. Starting in the mid-80s, their real estate holdings increased and eventually expanded to include several apartment complexes and commercial properties.He is a retired fire chief and was the youngest person to become a Captain in the Fire Department at the age of 27, and the youngest Battalion Chief at 34.He did considerable writing for the fire department including being co-author of the IFSTA training manual on ladders, published through Oklahoma State University. He has written two books, is halfway through a third and has started a fourth. He is currently writing a book about their bareboat sailing experiences.
