This first issue and the multiple series leading up to it have been disappointing. They are trying very hard to resemble action movies like James Bond, but because of that, the characters are stale and the dialogue is droll. I'm also not sure who their target audience is. They kill a character in this book for attempted shock value, but you'll only maybe be shocked if you're already a G.I. Joe fan. You can't develop a character in one issue, so anyone unfamiliar with G.I. Joe won't care much. Long time G.I. Joe fans would probably want that character to get an arc, and maybe a meaningful death, but no, they're killed to try and shock the audience. New readers won't care and old fans will be disappointed, so who are they writing for? Killing undeveloped and underdeveloped characters is bad writing and they do it all the time in these new books. Its dumb and lazy. They should just have everyone kick a puppy in their first panel and move on with the story.
