Ein Jahr nach Einführung der Reformation im Fürstentum Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel 1568 wurde Jacob Jovius für das Amt des Superintendenten in Halle (Weserbergland) ordiniert. Als evangelischer Geistlicher der mittleren kirchlichen Leitungsebene war Jovius verpflichtet, die neuen Normen sowie die neue Kirchenordnung zu implementieren. Wie der Superintendent diese Herausforderung bewältigte, offenbaren die während seiner 16-jährigen Amtszeit angelegten Konzeptbücher, die 668 dienstliche und private Schreiben in deutscher und lateinischer Sprache enthalten. Erstmals können mithilfe dieser einzigartigen Quelle das soziale Netzwerk sowie die alltäglichen Schwierigkeiten und Konflikte eines Superintendenten auf dem Land während der Einführung der Reformation analysiert werden. One year after the introduction of the Reformation in the Principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel in 1568, Jacob Jovius was ordained as Superintendent in Halle (Weserbergland). As an evangelical clergyman of the middle ecclesiastical leadership, Jovius was obliged to implement the new norms as well as the new church order. How the superintendent coped with this challenge is revealed by his conceptuals, written during his 16-year term of office, which contain 668 official and private letters in both, German and Latin. With the help of this unique source, the social network and the daily difficulties and conflicts of a superintendent in the country can be analyzed during the introduction of the reformation.
