Crux is book 1 in the brand new Kate Rudolph series Dragon Brides that falls within a multi-author series Intergalactic Dating Agency. From what I can tell, all of the books will be standalone, so it should be safe to start anywhere. The book is written in third person omniscient from both leads' point of view (alternating). Crux is an alien/shapeshifter/dragon/royalty story featuring a prince searching for his mate and a human who found herself in something of a pickle when she got abducted from work one night by alien slavers. Crux is your typical warrior prince with the same hesitance to settle down that one expects from these types, but it's mostly because he's holding out for his true mate and not settling for less. Courtney, for her part, is a down on her luck 20 something trying to get by working as a skating waitress while she gets her life back together. I loved that she wasn't a shrinking violet and fought for herself at every turn. The two of them go through some interesting adventures. Primitive planets with terrifying creatures, rescues from crashed space ships, lessons in alternative uses for roller skates, some expected lack of communication that leads to confusion, steamy encounters of the alien kind, and an entertaining meet the parents moment. All in all, the book was a lot of fun. We meet a new species, some interesting friends, have the above mentioned adventures, and watch the two find their way to each other. I have the next book by both Mrs. Rudolph and Mrs. Ley on pre-order! If you like you your romance with aliens, you don't mind a few scales, enjoy steam, and find world hopping princes attractive, you should give this book a go!

Prince Crux and Courtney's Adventure . . . Roller skates, okay, that’s a new one on me in my reading experience. But very clever. Prince Crux is ordered by his father the King to find a bride. Courtney was a waitress abducted by aliens, but she cleverly managed to get away and connected with Crux. We then join Crux and Courtney in a wild adventure where they have to fight on a strange planet to survive. That bit of danger brings them closer together. This was an entertaining story, an excellent start to the series, and has just what the reader needs in terms of drama, suspense, and steam. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Three and a half stars. I liked that the story was just a little different but the characters were just ok. Her decision to trust him was strange and her reaction to him being a dragon was pretty ho-hum until he actually changed into a dragon. Her ‘friends’ and her mother were exceptionally rotten to her. This was one fmc that deserved an HEA. It’s a good, quick read but not my favorite from this author I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
