My name is David Thomas. I am a contractor and president of a family business that is about fifty-five years old. I was born in Niagara Falls, New York. My family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1958. My father, who was also born in Niagara Falls, always said that shoveling snow could possibly be the largest curse of living in the Northeast. I am sixty-two years old. I am a private pilot and have been for almost twenty years. My wife, Laurie, and I are coming up on our forty-second anniversary. Sometimes I think she just tolerates me. She says Im a workaholic. When it comes to my hobbies, I love to play golf and go fishing. The best things in my life have got to be my three granddaughters, aged seventeen, fifteen, and thirteen, and my four-month-old and three-year-old grandsons. I like to take the girls out and play tennis. I think the best part of it for them is watching me chase the balls around and the ice cream afterward. I just took all of them fishing recently. My three-year-old grandson didnt catch anything, but he had no trouble figuring out the fun in turning the reel backward to mess the fishing line. Good times! I also love to read. I enjoy reading James Patterson, Clive Cussler, Bernard Cornwell, Vince Flynn, and of course, many other authors. Im not really sure who my favorite author is, but it may be Michael Crichton. I love his ability to draw you into a storyline, to make you believe it can happen. It is my desire to try to do the same thing with my writing, although I know what an uphill battle that will be. I believe that having both a good agent and a good publisher is paramount to success, and I would appreciate it if you would consider my book.
