There is a broad approach to religious studies, including the history of Christianity which is not only a matter in classical Church history in theological faculties. This volume presents the contributions to a conference held by the editors, enriched by several more essays. They deal with the foundations of the disciplines concerned as well as with the history and present some exemplary studies from antiquity to recent history. Its aim is to deepen scholarly reflections on disciplinary customs and principles and to inspire further dialogue.
