Unter dem Schwerpunktthema "Energie" behandelt der Beton-Kalender in mehreren Beiträgen Planung und Entwurf von baulichen Anlagen, die der Energiegewinnung der Zukunft - örtlich, regional und im internationalen Maßstab - dienen. Dabei werden zum notwendigen Verständnis der besonderen Lasteinwirkungen jeweils einführend die Technik, Typen und Leistungsklassen beschrieben, und anschließend die Betontragwerke erläutert. Die spezifischen Anforderungen an den Baustoff Beton im Kraftwerksbau werden in einem gesonderten Kapitel behandelt. Das Thema Energie ohne die die Nachhaltigkeit von Betonkonstruktionen selbst zu betrachten, wäre unvollständig; Beiträge zur Lebensdauerbemessung sowie zur Erhaltung durch Instandsetzung tragen dem Rechnung.
Die Neufassung der DAfStb-Richtlinie Stahlfaserbeton vom März 2010 ist Anlass, mit dem zweiten Schwerpunkt "Faserbeton" alle Aspekte dieser Baustoffe und ihrer Anwendung in mehreren Beiträgen umfassend zu behandeln, darunter Originaltext der SFB-Richtlinie und Erläuterungen.

Professor Dipl.-Ing. DDr. Konrad Bergmeister is a professor at the Institute of Structural Engineering of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, Austria, and has managed an engineering consultancy since 1990. He is also chief editor of the journal "Beton- und Stahlbetonbau" (Concrete and Reinforced Concrete Structures) published by Ernst & Sohn.
Professor Dr.-Ing. Dr. h. c. Johann-Dietrich Wörner has been Professor for Structural Analysis at the Technical University of Darmstadt since 1995 and was the university's president until 2007. Since 2007 he has been chairman of the board of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) .
Dr.-Ing. Frank Fingerloos is responsible for the construction technology section of the Deutscher Beton- und Bautechnik-Verein E. V. (DBV). Since 2008 he has been lecturing on concrete construction at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. As a member of DIN's standardization committee for construction (NABau) he has been actively engaged with regard to DIN 1045 and Eurocode 2.
All the authors for the concrete yearbook are always chosen for their close practical experience in their respective subjects.
