कृष्ण विचलित नहीं हुए । अपने खुद के वचन की यथार्थता मानो सहजभाव से प्रकट होती है । नाश तो सहज कर्म है । यादव तो अति समर्थ है; फिर कृष्ण- बलराम जैसे प्रचंड व्यक्‍त‌ियों से रक्षित हैं- उनका सहज नाश किस प्रकार हो? उनका नाश कोई बाह्य शक्‍त‌ि तो कर ही नहीं सकती । कृष्ण इस सत्य को समझते हैं और इसलिए माता गांधारी के शाप के समय केवल कृष्ण हँसते हैं । हँसकर कहते हैं - ' माता! आपका शाप आशीर्वाद मानकर स्वीकार करता हूँ; कारण; यादवों का सामर्थ्य उनका अपना नाश करे; यही योग्य है । उनको दूसरा कोई परास्त नहीं कर सकता । ' कृष्ण का यह दर्शन यादव परिवार के नाश की घटना के समय देखने योग्य है । अति सामर्थ्य विवेक का त्याग कर देता है और विवेकहीन मनुष्य को जो कालभाव सहज रीति से प्राप्‍त न हो; तो जो परिणाम आए वही तो खरी दुर्गति है । कृष्ण इस शाप को आशीर्वाद मानकर स्वीकार करते हैं । इसमें ही रहस्य समाया हुआ है ।
