Lonesome Dove: The Pulitzer Prize Winning Novel Set in the American West

A wonderful book. Until I got a copy of this book, I had read sporadically. Reading Lonesome Dove made me fall in love with reading and books in general. I cannot recommend it highly enough. On a side note, this is book one, despite the Google description. There is a sequel and two prequels. All are very good but none are a patch on the original.

Incredible. Reads so smoothly and draws you into the characters even at less eventful parts of the book. Felt quite emotional when I finished it. Did not want it to end! By the end the characters felt so real to me. Like friends almost. A must read!

I never expected it to be so funny. Of course many sections are gruelling and death is everywhere throughout this great novel, but you will laugh. It drags a little in Part 3, but really each chapter is like a short story in itself. If you like the first chapter then keep reading. You are in for quite a journey.
