'Above the Waves' is book five in the "Seven Wardens" series by Laura Greenwood and Skye MacKinnon. If you've followed the series, then you know this will not be a standalone book. If not, then understand each book is built on the last so it's best to read them in order. When you do, you'll find Macey was definitely less likable in this storyline for a very good reason. The Mahoun has been destroyed but that still left Macey with a long to-do list; defeat his siblings, become Queen of the Kelpies, confront her mother about that little bombshell of a secret, decide how she feels about Luc and, most importantly, spend a few minutes with her men and finally enjoy some waffles. ~Sigh~ After just a few hours she's faced with more responsibilities and complications overtake her time again. This one seems to lack some of the spark and banter with the guys so hopefully, 'Under the Ice' will have a different feel to it. Still a good read with lots of action and adventure.

It always seems like Macey and her men are getting involved in more and more danger. After beating Malhoun they had very little time to celebrate and relax before trouble finds them again. This story was a great and exciting read. It had plenty of adventure like all of the other stories in this series and a little bit of sexy romance as well. Secrets keep coming up and Macey definitely wants to get to the bottom of them but time after time something else comes before that can happen. This book was exciting and I really tried to finish reading it the day I started but it was later in the day when I started and I could not stay up to the wee hours of the morning to finish it. This whole series is awesome and I can't wait to read the next story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Above the Waves is the fifth book in the Seven Wardens series. This is not a standalone and should not be read if you haven't read the first four books in the series, you'll be missing too much info on what's happening in the series. This review assumes you're read all of the books so it will contain spoilers for books 1-4. I seriously love this series. The Warden's storyline is gripping and well written. The heat and steam between Macey and her men is great and I love that it’s there but it's not the focal point of the whole book. It really hits on the relationships of the seven wardens and how important they are. This book picks up where book four left off. Macey now has the power of all the elements, the Mahoun has been banished, Macey is recovering with help other men and they still need to defeat the rest of the Mahoun's siblings. So just another day in the life of being one of the seven wardens. Maybe Macey will finally get her waffles. Awesome book! Can't wait to read book six. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

About the author

About Skye MacKinnon

Skye MacKinnon is a USA Today Bestselling Author with a slight obsession with  bunnies, dried mango and Scotland. And when she says slight... her friends are trying to find ways to trick her into not having a book set in Scotland. You'll often find Skye bribing herself into writing words using cake and tea, but whatever works, right? Whether they're set in space (Scottish space, obviously), fantasy worlds (Scottish fantasy worlds, obviously), or Scotland, Skye's tales are full of magic, romance and adventure. Oh and unicorns.

About Laura Greenwood

Laura really needs to get around to writing a better biography. She's great at doing them for her friends, but not so much for herself. Until then...she's a USA Today Bestselling Author of Paranormal, Reverse Harem & Fantasy Romance...the romance being the important bit! From kelpies to dragons, and princesses to bakers, there's a wide range of heroines, with one thing in common: they know how to look after themselves. (But the romance is fun too!) When she's not writing, you can find Laura reading, cooking, baking or binge watching one of three TV shows. Or Pitch Perfect. She's been known to watch that a couple of times in a day.
