ઈ.સ. ૧૯૬૯માં સંજોગવશાત્ કોલકાતાના નરેન્દ્રપુર સ્થિત રામકૃષ્ણ મિશનની શાખામાં મારે જવાનું થયું. નરેન્દ્રપુરનું નિવાસી વિદ્યાલય ભારતની સર્વશ્રેષ્ઠ ગણવામાં આવતી શિક્ષણ સંસ્થા છે. જીવનદાની ગૃહસ્થ શ્રી શુક્લાજી દ્વારા નરેન્દ્રપુરનો પરિચય થયો. ત્યાં સુધી રામકૃષ્ણ-વિવેકાનંદ સાહિત્યથી અને ત્યાંના સંન્યાસીઓથી મને પરિચય થયો ન હતો, પણ નરેન્દ્રપુરના સ્વામી લોકેશ્વરાનંદજી, સ્વામી મુમુક્ષાનંદજી, સ્વામી અસક્તાનંદજી સાથે પરિચયની શરૂઆત થતાં સ્વામી આત્માનંદજી સાથે ઘનિષ્ઠ પરિચય થઈ ગયો. તેમની સાથે અમરકંટક અને નૈનિતાલની ઘણી યાત્રાઓ કરી. ઉપરાંત લગભગ ૧૫ સંન્યાસીઓના એક સમૂહની સાથે બદરી, કેદાર, ગંગોત્રી, યમુનોત્રીની ૧૬ દિવસની યાત્રા કરી. તેમની સાથે પંદર દિવસ હૈદરાબાદમાં રહ્યો. ‘ગીતા’ પર તેમનાં દિલ્હીમાં પ્રવચનો યોજાયાં. ‘ગીતા’ના છ અધ્યાય સુધીનાં તેમનાં પ્રવચનોના પ્રકાશનમાં સહાયતા કરી. ધીરે ધીરે રામકૃષ્ણ મિશનના મુખ્યાલય બેલુર મઠ સાથે સંપર્ક થયો. ઈ.સ. ૧૯૯૪માં રામકૃષ્ણ મિશનના અધ્યક્ષ સ્વામી ભૂતેશાનંદજીના સાન્નિધ્યનું સૌભાગ્ય મળ્યું.
