About this ebook

She never wants Scotland to change.

He never wanted to be in Scotland at all.

A family curse, though, says otherwise.

Ainslie Campbell’s life should be idyllic. She has a fulfilling career as a respected and well-loved veterinarian in her hometown., the adoration of three imperfect cats and a happy dog named after a TV star, and the gorgeous landscape of the Scottish Highlands to comfort her. She also has debt growing by the day, a house about to be sold from under her, and guardianship of her rebellious – and also pregnant – teenaged sister.

But there is a glimmer of hope: Catrione Kerr, her feisty godmother, invites Ainslie to move into Craigwarren, Catrione’s family home, and one of Ainslie’s favorite places. There’s one catch. She’ll have to temporarily share the house with an American businessman and Catrione’s long-lost heir, Ewan Portman.

Ewan, like his father before him, has no desire to live in Scotland. Ever. He’s already had to put his dream career on hold to sort out this unexpected and unwanted inheritance. Eager to get back to the States and his well-ordered life, he’d prefer to walk away from the old pile, despite the objections of his mesmerizingly beautiful Highland housemate.

Scotland, however, has its own plans, and soon ancient legends of a kelpie in Craigwarren’s loch, a brownie sprite who lives in the barn, and a family curse only he can break, immerse Ewan in an unfamiliar, but enchanting world that leaves both his dreams and his heart vulnerable to Highland magic . . . and most especially Ainslie.

Except Ewan can’t stay in Scotland forever, not with his future at stake. Nor can he fix all Craigwarren’s problems, no matter how desperately he might want to.

Even Highland magic has limits to its power.

Doesn’t it?

Thoroughly enjoyed my magical trip to Scotland. A surprise letter to Ewan, has him going to Scotland to learn more of his deceased mother's heritage. A five day trip turns into so much more and changes Ewan life forever. He meets veterinarian, Ainslie and her household full of animals. Ainslie will become his travel guide, soon this develops into a friendship but they both no it can't go any further without broken hearts. This is a magical trip of the Highlands of Scotland, loved all of the descriptive writing. Loved the chemistry and banter between Ewan and Ainslie. I'm so happy they were able to figure out how to work their relationship out. This is the perfect virtual summer vacation if you can't travel.

I enjoyed reading Never and Forever Scotland by Lizbeth Selvig, book one in her Heirs of Craigwarren series. It is a wonderful, sweet story that focuses on Ewan and Ainslie, their friendship, chemistry, and magnetic attraction as well as the countryside and beauty of Scotland. What a wonderful way to pass the time by being whisked away to Scotland, falling in love with its beauty, charm, magic, and whimsy, while also falling in love with such wonderful characters. Ewan was never planned to visit the place where his mother came from, but a surprise letter from a Scottish solicitor sends him there, upending his life in so many ways. He swore he’d never eat haggis or wear a kilt, and was a true cynic when it came to the myths and legends of Scotland. He definitely didn’t expect to become enchanted by a high-spirited, independent, veterinarian, Ainslie; nor did he expect his conversion from cynic to believer. Watching Ewan change his mind about Scotland was an enjoyable journey. Ewan and Ainslie were an amazing pair, their teasing, their banter, their magnetic attraction, their chemistry, and their passion exploded on the pages of this story. Ms. Selvig wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with off the charts chemistry, magnetism, wonderful dialogue, charming characters and the magic of love giving Ewan and Ainslie a chance at love, happiness, and a future in Scotland that neither expected. I highly recommend Never and Forever Scotland to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This book transported me straight to Scotland. I've kind of always wanted to go, but now I feel like I've been partway and need to finish the journey someday. This story was inspired by the author's own travels with the love of her life to the land of whimsical tales, beautiful landscapes and the rolling brogues of the people. Ms. Selvig has written a story of a man who never knew his mother's country or family and has now been invited by his elderly relative with the hope that she can leave the family lands and house to him and his siblings. Ewan very reluctantly goes, but fall in love with the land and the people--especially a red headed veterinarian named Ainslee who is determined not to like him. She's drawn to him, but know he's leaving in a week. What's the point? It may be that love is never predictable. This is a delightful tale of family, known and undiscovered. It's a tale of a gorgeous land and lovely people (most of them). It's a delightful story that I would have loved to experience first hand. The subject matter combined with Selvig's wonderful character development and engaging plot makes it one I would love to go back and revisit again...and again. I highly recommend of you like to experience different lands through words. The plot sure doesn't hurt any either! I was given a complimentary copy of this book via the author and Booksprout. All thoughts are my own.

About the author

Award-winning and No.1 Bestselling author Lizbeth Selvig writes heartwarming contemporary romance. Whether set in the Scottish Highlands, a huge ranch in Wyoming, a small town in Minnesota, or a Kentucky racetrack, her strong, fun and funny characters will never do the expected while finding their ways home to family and love.

Lizbeth turned to fiction writing after working as a newspaper journalist and magazine editor, raising an equine veterinarian daughter (handy, since there are usually too many horses in her stories) and a talented musician son (also handy because she’s been known to write about rock stars). She shares life in Minnesota, where her first book series is set, with her best friend (aka her husband, Jan), her two pretty horses, Jedi and Largo, three human grandchildren, and her four-legged grandbabies of which there are nearly thirty (including two alpacas, a couple of small goats, a mammoth-eared donkey, two miniature horses, a pig, and many many dogs, cats and regular-sized horses). In her spare time, she loves to hike, quilt, read, and ride horses. An incorrigible extrovert, she also loves connecting with readers—so contact her any time.
