Die leise Melodie klang, als hätte jemand eine Spieluhr in Gang gesetzt. Die feinen Töne wehten vom Denkmal herüber. Allerdings war es keine harmonische Notenabfolge, sondern es klang, als würde jemand die »Fledermaus« rückwärts abspielen und dabei zusätzliche Misstöne einfügen. Johann Strauß hätte sich in seinem Grab auf dem Zentralfriedhof umgedreht, wenn er es gehört hätte. Ganz gewiss aber würde die Melodie einen Menschen in den Irrsinn treiben. Für eine Dämonin wie mich war sie weder erschreckend noch neuartig. Derartige Musik untermalte so manchen Schwarzen Sabbat. Und dennoch beunruhigte mich die Musik. Sie griff nach meinem Geist, so als wollte sich jede einzelne Note darin festkrallen ...
