Amitabh Sengupta is a painter by profession. He studied in Calcutta, Paris and the USA, through 60s and 70s. He was the head of Visual Arts in the University of Port Harcourt in Nigeria, spending eleven years in two universities. Since his return to Calcutta in 1989, Amitabh has been engaged in research and painting. He held many exhibitions of his paintings in India and abroad. Amitabh has published two books, Scroll Paintings of Bengal and Memoir of an Artist.
Saswati spent her early days in Nigeria and Chennai. She studied Design at Kala Bhavan, Bishwa Bharati University, later under Mr. Schroder in Delhi. She did her Masters and Ph.D. in Art History from the National Museum Institute of the History of Art, Conservation and Museology, New Delhi. In 1998, she received a Research grant from the Nehru Trust and completed a project on the Dokra Metal Works in Bengal. She has participated in some of the major Annual Exhibitions and a solo show of her paintings in Kolkata. She has traveled in Europe as a child and later went to Singapore and Bangkok. Her first book of poem, Fragments, was published in 2001.
