Christliche Rede von Liebe übersieht meistens ihre Zweideutigkeiten: Stattdessen wird Liebe entweder übertrieben gelobt oder vermeintliche Fehlformen verdammt. Das Buch beschreibt Liebe dagegen als vor-moralische Bindung zu anderen Menschen, die aber zur ethischen Klärung zwingt. Ihr theologischer Charakter besteht darin, dass sie Menschen widerfährt und auch dann noch Bindungen hält, wenn Gefühle abklingen. Genau darin besteht ihre ethische Herausforderung. Der theologische Charakter der Liebe erzeugt ihre ethische Verbindlichkeit. Mit diesem Ansatz lassen sich verschiedene Formen und Stadien der Liebe, der Freundschaft und sexueller Beziehungen beurteilen. Dabei setzt sich das Buch mit theologischen Alternativansätzen und humanwissenschaftlichen Einsichten auseinander. [Ethics of Love. Lectures on Intimacy ans Friendship] Christian speech of love usually ignores its ambivalence: Instead, love is either praised as a divine gift, or condemned due to its abnormality. This book describes love as a pre-moral bond between people, which urges them to search for ethical orientation. The theological character of love firstly consists in experiencing love like a revelation and secondly in the perpetual bond of partnership, which even outlasts separation. From this ambivalence of love its ethical challenge arises. Thus, the theological character of love constitutes its ethical obligations. In this way, several kinds and states of love, friendship and sexual relationships can be ethically evaluated. This book discusses alternative interpretations of love in theology and human science.
About the author
Lukas Ohly, Jahrgang 1969, studierte Evangelische Theologie und Philosophie in Frankfurt am Main, Marburg und Heidelberg. 2000 promovierte er im Fach Medizinethik. 2007 folgte die Habilitation zur Bioethik. Ohly ist Gemeindepfarrer in Nidderau, Hessen. Seit 2013 ist er zudem apl. Professor für Systematische Theologie und Religionsphilosophie an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main.
