AN EYE for AN EYE

I have a philosophy in life, yesterday was history, today is news, and tomorrow is the future. You can’t change history, but you can make the news, and you can shape the future.

Football was a large part of my youth, reaching a good standard. But in the days you should have been told to look after your body, if you don’t, you will suffer later in life.

Now my doctors tell me it is the cost of a miss spent youth. Football was my religion for most of my life, but over the years, I have become very dissolution with what is happening in the modern game. So much so that nowadays I have little interest.

Most Saturdays now are taken up watching rugby much more enjoyable.

When I reached eighteen, I had served my apprenticeship in ducking and diving. But happily, I still had football, which was going very well.

A month later, I found myself working in the House of Parliament. That was an education of a very different kind.

After several years in the Palace of Westminster, it was pleasant to turn in another direction entirely. Sometime later, I was given a chance to travel and meet celebrities from different walks of life. Which was enjoyable, well most of the time anyway?

I was born in Loughborough more years ago than I care to remember.

Most of my life, I spent chasing a pound when I wasn’t chasing a football, in and around London.  

Someone once said, “I meet some fascinating people in my life and have some wonderful memories.” In my case, this is true, I have been fortunate.

I have been honoured to meet and spend time with Royalty, world leaders, ambassadors, and politicians. Top sports personalities and household names in entertainment, and particularly the music business, worldwide.  A lot of doors were open for me that otherwise would have been out of the question. For that, I am eternally grateful.

We moved out of London some twenty years ago to the south coast. Our four boys have now fled the nest, and are enjoying their own young families, and our six beautiful grandchildren.

I started to write purely out of boredom, when recovering from surgery some years ago, having some success being published in the short story markets of America and Canada.  Now I love every minute of it, at present,

I have just finished a new novel called AN EYE for AN EYE, which has just been published.   Also, I have completed a book of my short stories, called SPARROWFOOT, ABOUT Nature/wildlife and the world we live in, which is now available from Amazon.

Writing takes up a lot of my time nowadays, but when the time is right, I love getting together with friends and family in a nice restaurant for a meal. I enjoy travelling abroad with my wife, taking in the atmosphere that each country has to offer. Enjoying a beer or two chilling with my buddies, and putting the world to right, seems the correct thing to do nowadays.

The rest of the week is spent peacefully at home with my wife Linda, having quality time together, chilling and having fun when the grandchildren are around.
