About this ebook

In a secluded Alaskan cove wrapped in fog and silence, two solitary souls are brought together by chance, an eerie melody drifting across the water.

Skye has carved out a life of quiet independence on her remote island, tending her greenhouse and creating art from sea-worn treasures. After years of heartache, she’s learned to trust no one but herself—until an unexpected visitor disrupts her fragile peace.

Evan, a seasoned fisherman, knows the sea like the back of his hand—but the dense, disorienting fog unsettles even him. When he stumbles upon Skye’s island, he’s drawn not only to the quiet beauty of the place but to the woman who lives there. What begins as shared meals and cautious conversation soon deepens into something more—a connection as fierce and consuming as the Alaskan wilderness itself.

But when the fog lifts, reality intrudes. Evan must return north for the grueling fishing season, and Skye is left to wrestle with the intensity of her feelings and the fears she thought she had buried long ago. A letter from Evan, laced with quiet hope, remains unanswered—leaving both of them adrift in isolation once more.

Determined not to let their connection vanish like mist in the sun, Evan sets out on a journey to find the woman who awakened his heart. Skye, too, must confront the ghosts of her past and decide whether she’s willing to risk everything for a second chance at love.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Alaska’s untamed beauty, this is a story of courage, healing, and the wild unpredictability of the human heart.

About the author

MM Travis has lived and worked in Anchorage and Seward, Alaska. She loves exploring the state and has done so on foot, and via vehicles, campers, kayak, seiner, ferry, and several sized aircraft, from Galbraith Lake above the arctic circle to the southeast panhandle, and from Kodiak to McCarthy and Tok.

A lover of all things salmon, she advocates for their protection and enjoys harvesting them. She’s caught salmon by hook, dipnet, fishwheel, seine net (and once by hand) from the Copper River, Gulkana, Kenai River, Prince William Sound, and the Outer District of the North Gulf Coast of Alaska.

She is the author of over twenty books, from non-fiction to romance, and has collaborated with Max Travis on a commercial fishing family saga based in Alaska. She loves writing contemporary romance with happy endings, often with second chance, small town, and ‘fish out of water’ tropes.
