This insightful book explores the relationship between theater and digital culture. The authors show that the marriage of traditional performance with new technologies leads to an upheaval of the implicit “live” quality of theatre by introducing media interfaces and Internet protocols, all the while blurring the barriers between theater-makers and their audience.

Sarah Bay-Cheng is associate professor and director of graduate studies in theatre at the University at Buffalo. Chiel Kattenbelt is associate professor of media comparison and intermediality at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Andy Lavender is dean of research and professor of contemporary theatre at the Central School of Speech & Drama, University of London. Robin Nelson is professor at the Central School of Speech & Drama, University of London.
