This story is "ripped from the headlines"! The first chapter grabs you and saddens you immensely but at the same time you HAVE to read it! It's a mass shooting at a doctor's office and the only one left alive is a little boy who has hidden himself where the shooter didn't see him. From there, the book doesn't slow down! Taylor Blackburn is the Texas Ranger who arrives on scene. The little boy, Ben, is so sweet but he sees him mother gunned down in front of him and that makes him stop speaking. Through the whole book he doesn't speak and my heart was totally broken for him! His aunt, Serena, becomes his guardian and she is grieving just as much as Ben. This story was so gut-wrenching to me. I couldn't read it fast enough! With so many mass shootings in the news, we rarely hear about the people that are witnesses or those left behind or the law enforcement that have to work the case. This book deals with all those people and it was great! I found it fascinating. I readily recommend it. I received this book from the author but wasn't required to review it. These thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another fantastic book by Margaret Daley. If you like good clean mystery, suspense, intrigue, romance, page turners and Happy endings, I recommend this book. No added nonsense and great story line and characters.
