About the author

Mary Pillai has been clinical lead for a community pregnancy advisory and a complex contraception service at Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust, is a member of ISUOG and on the editorial board of the Journal of FPSRHC, with 35 years' experience of ultrasound in obstetric and gynaecology services.

Paula Briggs is Module Guardian for the Special Skills module in ultrasound for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust. She uses ultrasound regularly in her clinical practice and is involved in practical training of healthcare professionals in ultrasound.

Julie-Michelle Bridson, a previous president of the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS), has been involved in ultrasound education and training for 25 years, forming part of many clinical areas in medical ultrasound in women's health, with the University of Liverpool, alongside the accreditation of many ultrasound courses worldwide.
