Erziehungs- und Familienberatung ist die meistgenutzte Hilfe zur Erziehung im Kontext der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe. Systemische Beratung und Therapie ist das dominierende Verfahren in diesem vielschichtigen Arbeitsfeld. Hinsichtlich ihrer Wirksamkeit und ihrer Effekte sind die Erziehungsberatung als auch der systemische Ansatz in der psychosozialen Beratung im Vergleich zur Psychotherapie noch wenig untersucht. Mathias Berg präsentiert die Ergebnisse einer mehrjährigen Interventionsstudie, welche die Auswirkungen von systemischer Familienberatung auf die Bindungssicherheit und Verhaltensprobleme von Kindern sowie auf das Erziehungsverhalten der Eltern empirisch erforschte. Die Befunde zeigen, dass systemische Beratung und Therapie im Feld der Erziehungsberatung dazu in der Lage sind, Bindungssicherheit zu fördern und Verhaltensauffälligkeiten zu reduzieren. Child guidance and family counseling centers are the most used social services in the context of German youth welfare. Systemic counseling and family therapy are the methods of choice in this complex field of work. The impact of family counseling as well as the effects of systemic approach in counseling has been little researched compared to psychotherapy. Mathias Berg presents the results of a longitudinal intervention study, which empirically examined the impact of systemic counseling and family therapy against the background of attachment theory. The findings show that family counseling in a child guidance center promotes attachment security and reduces mental and behavioral problems of children.

Prof. Dr. phil. Mathias Berg, M.A. (Klinisch-therapeutische Soziale Arbeit), Diplom-Sozialpädagoge, Systemischer Therapeut/Familientherapeut (DGSF, SG), Lehrender für Systemische Therapie und Beratung (DGSF), ist Professor für Theorien und Konzepte Sozialer Arbeit an der Katholischen Hochschule Nordrhein-Westfalen, Abt. Aachen. Er arbeitet weiterhin in eigener Praxis in Köln, ist Lehrender am Kölner Institut für Systemische Beratung und Therapie (KIS), Vorstandsvorsitzender der Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft für Erziehungsberatung NRW und Vorstandsmitglied der Bundeskonferenz für Erziehungsberatung (bke).
