About this ebook

2025 REVISED AND EXPANDED EDITION • The landmark book exploring what the Bible actually says—and doesn’t say—about same-sex relationships

As a young Christian man, Matthew Vines harbored the same basic hopes of many young people: to one day share his life with someone, to build a family of his own, to give and receive love. But when Vines realized he was gay, those hopes were called into question. The Bible, he’d been taught, condemned gay relationships.

Feeling the tension between his understanding of the Bible and the reality of his same-sex orientation, Vines devoted years to intensive research into what the Bible says about homosexuality. He asked questions such as:

• What was the real sin of Sodom?
• What did Paul have in mind when he wrote about same-sex relations?
• Is mandatory celibacy biblical?
• Can same-sex marriage fulfill Scripture’s vision for marriage?

Accessibly written and carefully argued, this expanded edition of God and the Gay Christian includes an updated introduction, two new chapters, and two new appendices. In the book, Vines engages with leading critiques of his work and shows readers how affirming same-sex relationships can go hand in hand with maintaining moral boundaries and upholding an orthodox Christian faith.

Almost all of the 1-star reviews are simply uneducated comments made without actually reading the book. The book presented thorough research and showed greatest respect of the Bible, way above many acclaimed Christians. The author wrote in a very personal way sharing his journey on the topic. For myself, I think the author's reasoning can totally withstand scrutiny and his embrace for an affirming attitude of loyal, committed, monogamous same sex relationships is totally consistent with and justified by the Bible. Of course, anyone may still disagree with any of the arguments, but if one judges the book by its conclusions and refuses to even understand and think about what I find are very valid and significant points raised in the book, then they shut themselves from the truth and are no different from the people who persecuted Galio from pointing out that the Earth revolves around the Sun.

You can't make something say what you want it to. You must search its true meaning and be objective. This book claiming that God endorses homosexuality is completely untrue. Sadly, most people these days don't seem to care about the truth and just want to do whatever they want no matter the consequences. If you live life allowing your emotions to dictate your truth, you'll be tossed around by your emotions, and what you claim to be truth will change daily. Only God can lead to the true life we all deeply want. Because God is a good Father, He's not going to lie to you. If you truly ask God for the truth, He'll tell you, but you also have to be willing to change if you're wrong about something. God loves you!

Yes,I totally agree with these people, the Lord created a man and a woman to be together, not a man and a man or a woman and a woman. But remember that God still loves you,but that doesn't mean your going to heaven, because you have to obey his law and his Word to be able to go to heaven. Here I have quoted a verse from the Bible for you,but remember that I am not doing this to attack or threat you in any way,I just want you to repent and give your lives to the Lord-Leviticus 20:13-“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."Please repent🙏🏻
