Información sobre este eBook

Metal Plasticity: Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling offers a comprehensive exploration of the mechanisms and principles governing plastic deformation in metals. Through detailed examination of experimental data, the book presents foundational knowledge on how metals behave under various loading conditions and introduces readers to the essential constitutive modeling techniques. These techniques are critical for accurately predicting and simulating metal responses. By combining theoretical insights with practical modeling approaches, the book serves as a valuable resource for engineers, researchers, and students seeking to understand, evaluate, and apply plasticity models in both academic and industrial contexts.Beyond the fundamentals, the book delves into specific yield functions, including isotropic, anisotropic, and asymmetric types, and analyzes their performance under 2D and 3D stress states. It discusses the development and calibration of various plasticity models, comparing their accuracy, computational costs, and ease of use. - Outlines the complex plastic behaviors of metals based on experimental observations - Reviews constitutive models for characterizing their plasticity - Provides guidance on selecting the proper constitutive model to analyze deformations based on the polycrystalline structures of metals - Covers strain hardening and isotropic and anisotropic yield functions, as well as the advantages, disadvantages, and optimal applications of various models

Acerca del autor

Dr. Yanshan Lou is a professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China. He earned his PhD from KAIST in 2012, worked in Australia and TU Dortmund (as an Alexander von Humboldt scholar), and joined Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2018. He received the O.C. Zienkiewicz Award in 2019 and the International Journal of Plasticity Young Researcher Award in 2020. His anisotropic yield function and ductile fracture criteria were implemented into Ansys LS-DYNA as *MAT_263 or *MAT_Lou-Yoon_Anisotropic_Plasticity. His research focuses on anisotropic/asymmetric yielding behaviors, large-strain hardening, ductile fracture, strain rate hardening, thermal softening, artificial neural networks (ANNs), lightweight design, crash and impact analysis.
