Wichtig ist aber auch eine Auseinandersetzung unter dem Stichwort Säkularität.Vertreter aus religionspädagogischer Theorie und Praxis tauschten sich im Oktober 2011 zum Thema "Schule und Religion im Kontext der Konfessionslosigkeit" aus: Zum Teil wurden die Beiträge des Bandes auf der Tagung diskutiert, zum Teil im Anschluss daran und unter Aufnahme grundlegender Diskussionslinien verfasst.

Pfarrer Matthias Spenn ist Direktor des Amtes für kirchliche Dienste der Evangelischen Kirche Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesiche Oberlausitz (EKBO). Zuvor war er wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Bereich »Bildung in Kirche und Gesellschaft« am Comenius Institut Münster.
