About this ebook

“[With Wings Like Eagles is] bold and refreshing… Korda writes with great elegance and flair.”—Wall Street Journal

From the New York Times bestselling author of Ike and Horse People, Michael Korda, comes With Wings Like Eagles, the harrowing story of The Battle of Britain, one of the most important battles of World War II. In the words of the Washington Post Book World, “With Wings Like Eagles is a skillful, absorbing, often moving contribution to the popular understanding of one of the few episodes in history … to deserve the description ‘heroic.’”

This story has been told & retold by far better authors, many of whom had access to the participants from both sides. Korda would be better served writing about the American participation, particularly the air-war in the Pacific or the Italian campaign. The hype that there were 'thousands" of RAF pilots ready to fly against the Luftwaffe is only of the errors that come forward; even if those pilots included Commonwealth, those who escaped the invading German forces in Europe and even the handful of American volunteers were counted the tally would not reach 'thousands'. Both Tedder and Keith Parks biographies provide detailed, accurate versions of this struggle, and provide far greater insight than Mr. Korda can hope to offer.
