About this ebook

A sexy werewolf complicates the plans of an independent witch in this “well-written and exciting” paranormal romance (RT Book Reviews).

The werewolf’s fate rested in the witch’s hands . . .

Mireio Malory is a quirky witch who’s on a quest to complete a dark spell that will grant her immortality—at the expense of a live vampire’s heart. She’s ready to conjure that dangerous and life-changing spell when she meets a lone werewolf and beekeeper.

Lars Gunderson has secrets of his own. His alpha allure is obvious, but Mireio senses that there’s something more to him than his raw sexiness. When Lars entrusts her with a devastating revelation, Mireio has to make a choice. Will she sacrifice the most potent magic she’s ever worked on to be with the man she loves?

Mireio Malory, a witch, has no time for relationships until she has found an immortality spell, which entails that she kills a vampire and drinks the blood from the creature’s heart, but she will only end the life of an evil one. One evening, while getting out of the bathtub, she hears her neighbour scream, and Mireio runs outside and sees a werewolf. The crisis is resolved, but a little while later at the brewery where she works with her friends, The Decadent Dames, there’s a handsome man – “a tall order of yummy” – who starts to chat her up. Mireio has immediately the feeling he is the werewolf she saw in front of her home, and indeed he is. The big lumbersexual is shy around women, and he had to gather all his courage to talk to Mireio; he is well rewarded because they get along swimmingly. But the charming werewolf, Lars Gunderson, has secrets of his own… I was eager to read Mireio’s story and it is spectacular! Readers who haven’t read the previous books need not worry, because THE WITCH AND THE WEREWOLF stands perfectly on its own. Michele Hauf has created such a wonderfully innovative world for this series, and again the author shines with brilliant takes on paranormal mythology, and the story is fabulous, so beautifully crafted, and there are more twists and turns than I can count, all very clever and imaginative. The characters are fantastic; we had met Mireio before, of course, and she is just as splendid as I wanted, but Lars Gunderson is a hero after my own heart. He is the antithesis of most male leads out there: he is so appealing, kind, not arrogant if his life depended on it; he is just so nice and not dull for a second. He is the stuff book ideal boyfriends are made of! I loved how Lars and Mereio got to know each other; they actually dated for real, imagine that! There are no sex scenes, those are lovemaking scenes, because they are so gorgeous: there is love, respect, awe; they are just so beautiful. THE WITCH AND THE WEREWOLF is lovely, charming, sweet and scorching; heart-stopping, heartbreaking, and heart-melting. The paranormal elements are superb, and the magic dazzling again. There is also a very important secondary character, Charlie, who is splendid; I just loved him to bits. Geneva – another Dame – is awesome, even though she has but a few scenes, she is unforgettable. And the love story? Positively marvellous! The romance is so breathtaking, and feels so genuine, that even readers who don’t normally read paranormal romances should give THE WITCH AND THE WEREWOLF a try, because to me, this is what love should be like. A remarkably well-written, inventive story; superbly drawn and engaging characters, and plot twists to make your jaw drop? Can you ask for anything more? Not in this case! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
