When Kari Grove finds a ring, she is drawn into a world she never knew about. I love the fact that the ladies from the previous books are there to support Kari and that the story is not just about one person finding her new powers and love. It is a well written story full of magic and mayhem but also of new and supportive friendships. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Kari, the gang & Angel Her grandmother was close to the end (again). Kari had been called back again and again, it seemed just so the woman who raised her and spent that time telling her how worthless she was could do so again. Yet, she came back. Oh, not for the money even though there was a lot, but because she felt obligated. Little did Kari know what life had in store for her. This time her grandmother's call wasn't a false alarm. After the funeral, she just wanted to leave and go back to her old life yet, with the details that needed to be dealt with she couldn't. What was in store for her, she couldn't believe. Good thing the other women who'd be selected by an active spirit came to help her through the surprises and changes. The women from the series are fun, strong, middle-aged women who not only deal with all that entails but those new magic abilities. Kari is unprepared for her surprise changes and finding a man who is interested and supportive. Lots going on. Don't miss this new Order of Magic #5 -- warning, if you haven't already, you'll probably want to read the others even though this will stand alone.

Back to Freewild Cove we go! I date you not to totally loathe Connie by the end of this book. I do enjoy an irredeemable character that you can just hate sometimes! Kari has had a horrible upbringing. Her mother and father died shortly after her birth, she was raised by the coldest grandparents ever and although they were very wealthy, she had a regimented life with absolutely zero joy. Even now as an adult she dreads having to interact with her Grandmother. Does the fact that Connie had passed on and she can't shed a tear mean she is a bad person??? Lorna, Vivien, Heather & Sue (and grandma Julia) are back to help Kari discover her new magical abilities and find a new place in the world. Add in the handsome and helpful Angel, who has some history with the Order of Magic and Kari is in safe hands. There are tears, laughter and a keen sense of betrayal and anger to be found in this one. Your heart will run over at the love that Kari finds from the unlikeliest sources. Another great addition to the series.
