About the author

Joseph L.H. Tan was a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, where he has served for 11 years since obtaining his doctorate from Harvard University. He was also Coordinator of the Institute's ASEAN Economic Research Unit. 

Dr Mya Than was a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore.
