About the author

Dr. N. Ramesh Babu is Emeritus Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Dr. Ramesh Babu received his PhD from IIT Madras in the year 1990 (Investigations on laser dressing of grinding wheels). His research interest includes manufacturing technology, grinding, abrasive waterjet machining, sheet metal fabrication, laser beam machining, CNC, PLCs and robotics, precision machine tool development, process modelling and simulation of manufacturing systems. He is the recipient of many awards and honors. His publications include 61 international journal papers and 104 national and international conference papers.

Dr. Santosh Kumar is the most senior professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. He is Fellow IE (India) and Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT (BHU) Varanasi. He has been Chairman and Coordinator of the Teaching-Learning Cell at IIT (BHU). He has received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from NIT Allahabad and Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur. He has published nearly 110 international and national journal papers. He has completed fifteen sponsored research projects, and four projects are in progress. He has developed four new machines from scratch for government organizations, out of which three are patented. He has received many awards.

Dr. G. M. Karthik is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) BHU, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Before his current role, he served as a Research Assistant Professor at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea. His research primarily focuses on Additive Manufacturing and Materials Joining. Dr. Karthik is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Brain Pool Fellowship, Academic Fellowship, Weldwell Specialty Award, Sudharshan Bhat Memorial Award, Academic Proficiency Award, and the Shastri Institutional Research Collaboration Development Grant. His scholarly work is well-recognized, with over 40 journal articles in internationally reputed journals, and at many international conferences.

Dr. P. Sharma is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) VARANASI. Prior to joining IIT (BHU), he served four more institutions. He obtained his PhD from IIT (Delhi) in 2019. He is a gold medalist of MNNIT (Allahabad) in master's program. He has published more than ten research papers in international journals and many in conferences. He has been granted two patents. He has contributed many chapters in various books and worked as editors of books.
