About this ebook

Chapter 1: The Map in the Attic

It was the first day of summer vacation, and twelve-year-old Lily thought she’d be bored out of her mind. That was before she found the dusty old map tucked behind a wooden beam in her grandmother’s attic.

It was yellowed and brittle, but still legible. At the center was a mysterious place labeled Adventure Island—with tiny drawings of trees, animals, treasure chests, and strange shapes that looked like… puzzle pieces?

“Jake, come look at this!” she yelled to her younger brother, who was busy hunting for old comic books.

Jake peered over her shoulder. “It’s probably just a game map. Or a prank.”

But Lily shook her head. “Grandma used to be a traveler. She always said she visited places no one else believed in.”

The bottom corner of the map shimmered faintly. And then—whoosh! A gust of wind blasted through the attic, and the map glowed bright green.

And just like that, the attic vanished.

Chapter 2: Welcome to Adventure Island

Lily and Jake landed on soft mossy ground. Above them, bright blue birds cawed in a sky filled with floating rocks. Ahead lay a forest that sparkled with glowing mushrooms and trees with silver leaves.

A sign stood crookedly by the path:

Welcome to Adventure Island — A Place of Merges and Magic!

Jake stepped forward. “What does that mean?”

Suddenly, a shimmer appeared before them—a ghostly figure in a robe.

“I am Guidebot,” it said, hovering. “To leave the island, you must complete the Merges.”

Lily blinked. “Merges?”

The Guidebot pointed at a bush. “Observe.”

Three small berries floated in the air and merged into a giant golden berry.

“You see,” the Guidebot said, “three of the same make one new. But not everything merges as expected. And not every merge is safe.”

Chapter 3: The First Puzzle

Jake spotted a puzzle gate blocking their path. On it, a riddle was inscribed:

Merge what grows, then what glows,

Only then the true path shows.

Lily and Jake searched the forest, finding three tiny saplings and merging them into a tree. Then they found glowing mushrooms and merged those into a lantern.

The gate opened slowly, revealing a twisting path and a glimpse of a crystal castle in the distance.

“This is like a living game!” Jake exclaimed.

But Lily looked serious. “Yeah. And we’re the players. But what's the prize?”

Chapter 4: The Beast of Broken Merges

Not all merges went well. When Jake tried combining three cracked eggs, a smoky shadow emerged—part bird, part dragon.

“Back up!” Lily shouted, pulling him behind a rock.

The Guidebot appeared again. “Incorrect merges can create glitches—beasts made from unfinished puzzles. Be cautious.”

They used the lantern they had made earlier to scare the shadow away. It dissolved into mist, but the lesson was clear: merge wisely.

Chapter 5: Merge of Friendship

Along the way, they met other kids who had also landed on the island from different parts of the world—each with part of the map glowing on their arm.

One girl, Aiko, could merge animals into companions. Another boy, Mateo, could merge paths to create shortcuts.

Together, the group realized that only by merging their skills and trust could they progress.

And finally, at the crystal castle, they found a pedestal with a final instruction:

Merge hearts, not just objects.

Holding hands, they stepped onto the pedestal. The magic flared—and a portal opened.

Chapter 6: Back Home

They woke up in the attic, the map now faded to blank parchment.

Jake looked around. “Was it real?”

Lily smiled, holding a golden berry in her palm. “It was real enough.”

And on the map’s edge, in tiny letters, new words appeared:

Adventure Complete — Until Next Time.
