Dr. Brownstone received a BA degree in psychology from Cornell University and attended medical school at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson. He trained for over 3 years as a resident in plastic and reconstructive surgery before switching to a career in dermatology. Dr. Brownstone completed dermatology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and served as chief resident in his final year. He also completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco Department of Dermatology in psoriasis, phototherapy and clinical research and a fellowship in melanoma at the National Society for Cutaneous Medicine/Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine. Dr. Brownstone is also the editor of “Clinical Cases in Atopic Dermatitis”, “Biologic Therapy for Psoriasis: Cutting Edge Treatment Principles” and “Clinical Cases in Hidradenitis Suppurativa”.
