Buku ini membahas tentang bahaya kimia lingkungan kerja, yaitu debu silika
yang dihasilkan industri rumah tangga kerajinan batu marmer. Batu marmer
mempunyai kandungan silika yang cukup tinggi yaitu sekitar 64,18–92,68%.
Dampak paparan debu marmer bersifat kronis, yaitu penyakit silikosis akibat kerja.
Penyakit ini tidak dapat diobati bahkan berisiko tinggi mengakibatkan kematian,
namun silicosis dapat dicegah dengan menggunakan APD (Alat Pelindung Diri)
pernapasan yang dilapisi dengan bahan absorben maupun adsorben, guna mencegah
partikel silika tidak dapat masuk ke area pernapasan.
