About the author
NORMAN PAGE is Emeritus Professor of Modern English Literature, University of Nottingham. Housman: A Critical Biography (1983), A Conrad Companion (1986), and Tennyson: An Illustrated Life (1992), as well as editions of novels by Dickens, Hardy, Wilkie Collins and other writers.
