Everyone, sooner or later, has experienced fear of something: animals, needles, closed spaces. But when fear becomes irrational and paralyzing, then it can be called a phobia. In this book, we will address the topic of phobias from different perspectives. We will learn about the various types of phobias, such as social, situational, and specific phobias. We will discover what happens in our brain when we experience terror in response to a specific stimulus. We will also delve into the causes that can trigger phobias and irrational fears, often linked to past traumas, taking into account the psychological aspects underlying phobias and which therapies, such as gradual exposure, prove to be the most effective. The goal of this book is to reveal the mechanisms of phobias in order to learn how to face and manage them, regaining lost serenity.
