Scholarly, objective articles about proper nouns (geographical, biographical) of the Bible. Highly readable and informing. Many of the larger articles are wonderful stand-alone reads. The title ("Imperial") sounds imperious, but is justified. It is a formidable statement of the state of Biblical exegesis in the mid-19C, probably a lot more creditable than so much of the current, uninformed, highly polemical nonsense. No believer of any creed should be offended by the contents; and will be informed and inspired. The writer is an artistic and intellectual genius; for me, truly a wonderful find.
