Engaging, fast-paced, and well written read. The top reviews nailed just what a gem this book, and ideally the series, is. The book is layered and nuanced as is its cast of 3-dimensional characters. The characters' stories are timely, and resonant in this day and in your heart. This is a found family book that warmed my heart. Bax's self-talk and dialogue ranges from amusing to hilarious, peppered with witty drive-by pop culture references (think Seth Greene in Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Like the wit, this book is cool.

Really, really well written and original. There are so many books about people "suddenly"discovering they have an unexpected ability that most of them read pretty much the same. This is not one of them. Bax is a wonderful character, and the people surrounding him are very real..just like our own friends, neighbors, and family members. I will definitely follow Bax on his journey to learn more about himself, and the adventures to follow.
