Redirection of the focus of epilepsy treatment from preventing the development of epilepsy to preventing epileptic seizures by the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) in 2021 results in major changes in the theory, basic principles and expected purposes of pharmacological therapy of epilepsy.
