Acerca de este libro electrónico

Henrik Ibsen’s Pillars of Society is a four-act play set in a Norwegian coastal town in the late 19th century. Karsten Bernick, a shipbuilder and respected citizen, faces turmoil when family members return and an old scandal resurfaces. Bernick struggles between industrial progress and moral responsibility while clinging to his public reputation. The opening contrasts the charitable pursuits in the Bernick household with the grievances of Aune, a shipyard worker, creating early tension. The play exposes the conflict between personal ambition and social expectation, revealing the hypocrisy and moral crisis underlying respectability.
