This well-informed, measured analysis includes discussion of the place of televangelism in the history of American Protestantism; the styles of leading TV preachers and the televangelical star system; the relation of televangelism to conservatism and politics. It also answers the questions of televangelism’s organisation and audience, as well as providing an analysis over the wave of scandals which swept over Pray TV in the 1980s.
