Economists have written textbooks on the basis of official reports, whereas politicians have depicted the economy in accordance with their own role. Recently, many schemes for the future have also been presented. But there has been no attempt to determine the direction of the future considering the present on the basis of the past. Historians, economists and politicians have been thinking differently.
The ideas contained in these pages are syncretic in nature, and therefore will remain incomplete and disappointing for those who think in a one-sided way. As the name of the book will reveal, it is only a pointer to a direction. The broad lines of a development-oriented India have been drawn.
The task of marking many small lines and infusing colours in the picture will be completed only by nature and man. As it proceeds further, the picture will take shape. Our duty is to set aside the curiosity of a viewer and engage in this task with passion and endeavour of a creator.
