I welcome this book on behalf of radiographic practitioners every where. It arrives at a time of rapid change within the world of medical imaging where advancing technology and changes in employment conditions are having a major effect on the everyday working practices of those who physically and clinically direct radiation. The development of radiography as a graduate profession within the United Kingdom provides the opportunity for role extension and role fulfilment for radiographers. Moves toward standardized quality assurance and quality control programmes in radiography and radi ology include not only the audit of equipment but also working practices.
