About this ebook

Aware and Empowered is a child-friendly handbook designed to help children and youth in India understand their rights, responsibilities, and the laws that protect them. Written in a clear, respectful tone, it explains how legal principles relate to everyday life—whether crossing the road, using the internet, or witnessing injustice. Instead of presenting dry legal facts, it uses relatable stories and real-life examples to introduce key laws like the Right to Education Act, POCSO Act, and Child Labour Act. The book provides practical guidance on reporting abuse, contacting helplines, and handling emergencies. It highlights the Good Samaritan Law, road safety, gender equality, and online safety, encouraging children to take action with confidence and compassion. More than just legal education, it empowers children to think critically, act wisely, and know they are protected. This handbook is a vital resource for schools, families, and child protection workers, reinforcing that every child’s voice matters and they are never too young to make a difference.
