Als jongetje ging Rasit nooit op vakantie. Samen met zijn boezemvriend Okkie hing hij in de zomervakanties rond in de straten Wormer en verveelde zich stierlijk. Vol afgunst zag hij zijn schoolvriendjes vertrekken naar de camping in Frankrijk. Wat ze daar voor fantastische avonturen beleefden daar kon Rasit alleen maar over dromen. Ooit ga ik ook kamperen in Frankrijk, hield hij zichzelf voor. Nu is het zover. Rasit Elibol (Zaandam, 1984) is schrijvend journalist. In 2014 won hij de VPRO Bagagedrager, de aanmoedigingsprijs voor jonge reisschrijvers.
