मैं उस कवि के शिल्प-कौशल, कथ्य-गरिमा, उसके पाण्डित्य और व्याकरण पर एक भी शब्द इसलिए नहीं कहूँगा क्योंकि मैं स्वयं को साहित्य के इन बिन्दुओं पर टिप्पणी करने का अधिकृत प्रवक्ता नहीं मानता, हाँ, मैंने पूरी पुस्तक पढ़ी है और कवि की अधिकांश रचनाएँ मैंने अखिल भारतीय कवि-सम्मेलनों के मंचों पर जनता की तालियों की गड़गड़ाहट के बीच सुनी भी है। उनकी ये पुस्तक वर्तमान समाज का आईना है। इस पुस्तक में सम्पूर्ण समाज के सामाजिक, शैक्षिणिक, आध्यात्मिक, राजनैतिक परिवेशों में एवं उनके मूल्यों में आई गिरावट का अभिधा-शैली में सरदार रतन सिंह ‘रतन’ जी ने जिस तरह से वर्णन किया है, उससे वह समाज के साधारण वर्ग के लोगों तक के दिलों में खौलते असंतोष का समर्थन देते दिखाई देते हैं, कवि अपनी कलम को अपने लेखन के प्रति ईमानदार बनाए रखने के लिए संकल्पित है, वह झूठे आडम्बरों से न सिर्फ जनता को सावधान करता है वरन उन पर चोट भी करता नज़र आता है।
